When to change baby from crib to toddler bed?

My daughter just turned a year on the 17th. I am getting a toddler bed and I am just wondering when do I start to put her in it. She hasn't tried to climb out of the crib yet as far as I am aware of, she wakes up around 1:00 am every night (does not scream, just plays in her crib) and then goes back to sleep about 2:00 am. So if we were to put her into a toddler bed how would we keep her in it, or should we just wait until she is trying to climb out of the crib?When to change baby from crib to toddler bed?
My daughter is 16months and I plan on keeping her in her cot for as long as possible as I feel like this is where she is most safe. Advice that I have had before is not to move them until they are trying to or can climb out of the cot.



If she is still waking in the night then moving her into a toddler bed just now may not be the best idea as she will more than likely try and get off the bed. Have starred this Q as kept meaning to ask this myself.When to change baby from crib to toddler bed?
I would wait until she tries to climb out, or until you are potty training so she needs to be able to get out.
