Did you ever change your mind about your baby's name?

After naming your baby, did you ever feel disappointed in your choice, or change your mind weeks or months down the track? Have you changed baby's name after a few weeks or months? My partner chose our baby's name from our shortlist a few minutes after the birth (that was 7wks ago). It's a beautiful name when pronounced correctly - however, after hearing many people pronounce it wrongly, the shine has been taken off!! We had no idea people would mispronounce it %26amp; had we envisaged this problem at the time, I think we both would have reconsidered. I'm so disappointed %26amp; have even considered changing the name! How we would explain this to hundreds of friends %26amp; relies would be interesting!! If you're wondering, the name is Keira Grace. A gorgeous name when pronounced k-ee-rah. People where I come from tend to shorten it %26amp; pronounce it k-i-rra - I can't stand that!! aaarrrggghhhDid you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
Keira is a beautiful name. Don't change it, if your husband named her that after seeing her born then it was meant to be.

As soon as someone mis-pronounces it, correct them.

As someone else mentioned Keira Knightly I think alot of people will know how to pronounce it unless they are living in a cave.

Again keep the name.Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
well there is keira knightly(the actress) and many people know her, so that helps them know how to pronounce it. i have no experience(im only 17), but i saw on tv that meg ryan had decided to change her adopted daughter's name from ___(i dont know, forgot) to Daisy. and her daughter was like 3 when she changed it.Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
Just keep correcting them. My daughter's name is Alyssa--one of the most popular girl names in the U.S. However, people frequently call her A-Lisa. It's annoying, but I figure some people are just dumb.Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
I was going to name my first son Karamon, and call him Karry for short. When the doctor handed him to me, I held him and accidentally called him Kyle. I chuckled and corrected myself. As I started to introduce my son to his father, I called him Kyle AGAIN, and I said...%26quot;Oh, I'm sorry, I guess that's what your real name is.%26quot; And we call him Kyle Evan (last name withheld for security)

Never thought I should have named him different from what his true name is, which is Kyle.Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
Our son has a very unique name which is exactly what we wanted. Once people in our small town heard it or saw it in the newspaper (birth announcements) about 5 people named THEIR baby the same name. UGH!!!! We gave him a nickname.Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
I would personally leave her name alone I pronounced it right before reading further on. I love her middle name that is my babies middle name. My little girl is Sadie Grace. I was going to name her Zayda Grace but just like you to many people prounced it wrong but She looked more like a sadie when born. I like the name Keira it is really pretty.Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
YES I HAD MY SONS NAME PICKED OUT (GUNNER RILEY) SO WHEN HE WAS BORN I NAMED HIM HUNTER BUT SEVERAL HOURS LATER I CHANGED IT TO GUNNER BECAUSE I LOVE THAT NAME AND IT WASN'T ANYONE ELSE'S DECISION AND HIS NAME FITS HIM TO A TEE. AND THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T LIKE IT DON' T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT NOW. OTHERS AROUND TOWN HAVE NAMED THEIR CHILD GUNNER AFTER HEARING HIS NAME. DON'T FEEL BAD JUST CORRECT THE PEOPLE WHO SAY IT WRONG. AND EVENTUALLY THEY WILL GET IT RIGHT. BY THE WAY IT IS A BEAUTIFUL.NAMEDid you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
Well, I'm sure you've sent out the birth announcements already. But, if you haven't you could definitely explain it in that. %26quot;Our daughter Keira (pronounced Keera) Grace!%26quot;

If you have a website that many people read, you could also make a note about this on there as well.

Of course, there is always the option of making the baby wear a nametag with pronunciation on it. I bet that would get the point across too... :-P

It is a lovely name, and some people will take longer to get the hint than others, but you love it so stick with it. There are worse things--no one can spell my name!Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
No I never changed my mind at all.

Leave babygirls name ALONE!!!

Her name is FINE. People pronounce my last name wrong all of the time!!! I don't mind correcting people anyway.

My son's name is D'Airrius. Dee- air-e-us.

They call him Dar-rius. He's six and ignores them till they say it correctly,or when his dad or myself correct them for saying it wrong.

Trust me her name still shining cause its HER name.Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
I think it's beautiful but in Australia you would pronouce it kirra too.

why don't you just change the spelling?Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
First of all I know exactly what you mean Emmaleigh was how i wanted to spell my daughters name but after the nurse stumbled on her name I changed the spelling to Emily. And with the popularity of Keira Knightly, there are going to be alot more kids named Keira. I thought about it as a name as well, it sounds pretty and the name has a beautiful meaning too. I think that you should stick it out for a while, more and more people will hear and recognize the name and start pronouncing it correctly. Stick in there and Congrats on your new bundle of joy.Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
I know how u feel from personal experience. My name is Katrina and all through school my teachers kept calling me Christina or Katarina. it drove me crazy! but now i've gotten used to it. I would leave it and politely correct them. they'll get used to it in time.Did you ever change your mind about your baby%26039;s name?
Our adopted daughters name was changed before we adopted her, she was born Cora, but they changed that to Emily, which is much prettier.
