How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?

My little man is 7.5 months and is doing the rocking thing on his hands and knees. At this point in time, I can set him on the floor with toys for a few minutes while I make lunch, clean up a little bit and I just always have to make sure I can see him. How did that all change for you when you LO started crawling? How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
Oh, boy. I was doing a lot of chasing when she started actively crawling...even more so when she started cruising and eventually walking. I learned you can't take your eyes off of them for even a second! She has a %26quot;special drawer%26quot; in the kitchen full of things she's allowed to play with, so when I'm preparing food, that's usually what she's doing. We worked on teaching what drawer was hers for quite a while, but it's been a great idea - she keeps herself pretty well occupied with measuring cups, spoons, spatulas, and the like! Good luck! How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
Ugh Vacuuming twice a day! Getting up from the computer constantly LOL!How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
I got a lot more exerciseHow much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
lol you need to be sitting down as much as possible. as soon as he figures out how to move you won't be sitting, you will be running. How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
I have to bring this up i find it rather funny. When your baby can't walk and your forever carrying him/her around you start to wish they would hurry up and crawl. They start crawling but you can't see them and almost trip up and you start wishing they would hurry up and walk as soon as they start walking your wishing they were still newborn babies cause your forever chasing them around the house or where ever it is you are. Babies/Kids are adorable!! But kids will be kids, and babies will do what they're best at. GOTTA LOVE IT :)How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
Obviously life gets harder, but it happens gradually, so it's not this sudden life changing event. My one tip - when it looks like he's getting close to crawling, but isn't yet, don't leave him places assuming he can't do it. Some babies do things gradually, others just get up and do it one day, and if they happen to be in a dangerous spot when they decide to do that then there can be a problem. Yes, it does make things a little harder, but it's not the worst thing in the world. The real trouble comes when they start walking! Then it never stops! The best thing I ever bought was a HUGE playpen - I mean it took up most of the room, but it was worth it, I'd hate to put him in a tiny thing and he was such a mover I think he'd have screamed if I ever left him in a tiny 'cage' type thing - this thing was a giant but I could dismantle it each night (took about 5 mins with an electric screwdriver, and about 10 to reassemble in the morning) - and it really was ideal, meant I had somewhere to leave him when I went off to do the cooking or to have a shower etc. I don't know what I'd have done without it! Obviously I couldn't and wouldn't keep him in there all day, but just here and there it's the most useful thing in the world - and best thing is I could get in it and play with him with plenty of room! How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
Well- When they start to crawl that means they are more mobile (of course) and that means little hands are very curious!

My Daughter picked up anything she seen on the floor! Everything she seen on the floor looked appealing to her and then it went right in her mouth! So, needless to say, I was closely behind her everytime she was crawling and needless to say she had me vaccuming/sweeping everday...LOL...How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
oh i wont let my daughter crawl it will be to much work for me .i just keep her in a walker all day and i plan to do that till shes at least 2How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
My son just started about 2 weeks ago. I can still sit him down to play, but now I have to shut all the doors in my house, make sure the sockets are plugged with safety guards, and I'm pretty much on his heels all day long because he goes right over to something that he doesn't need to play with. I think I've lost about 5lbs chasing him. LOL.How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
Isn't the rocking thing so cute? LOL

Well I can say that my life has changed quite a bit ever since she started crawling. Even just now, I was playing with the baby on the carpet, and she was crawling here, there, trying to pick little bits off the floor, she started to bang on this moving box and this guitar case, haha. She was just all over the place! She likes standing using the couches and tries to get the stuff on the couches! I feel like I have to be on watch constantly, but I know that is part of my job. =) So I totally don't mind, I enjoy it...In our new house, we have two living rooms. I am thinking of dedicating one of the living rooms to the baby, and put a child gate around the huge space, and filling it with toys for her age level so I can watch her when I cook, and she can be a bit independent playing with her toys and such.

But yea, my life has changed..since she's standing, I play some music and grab her little hands, and she starts shaking it, hee hee...too cute..have fun watching your beautiful angel grow...

i vacuumed a heck of a lot more, i made sure that there wasn't random stuff on the floor because my daughter puts EVERYTHING in her mouth now..How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
Not much really.

I am a 1st time mom, so you have to understand that I tend to overprotect my DD, but surprisingly I started letting her go a little more when she started crawling, I guess at that point I slowly began to realize (VERY slowly) that

a) There is absolutely no way I could keep my eyes on her 100% of the time for the rest of her life and watch her every single breath she takes... haha,

b) I finally felt like I had already secured and de-cluttered my house enough for her to be safe crawling all over the place.... even though the house was all baby-proofed since she was only a few weeks old. Or

c) She took longer than most kids to fully start crawling (she did pure full speed crawling at about 11 months!!!) that I felt she was not as fragile as a newborn anymore.

We opted for hardwood floors in our new house (bought when she was born) so we didn't have to worry much about vacuuming, we just have to sweep with a dry mop which takes no time; and only light wet mop at night.

I think it also helped a lot the fact that she did not like to crawl; since she is very (VERY) active she would' much rather be 'running' around in her walker than crawling... I guess she couldn't crawl at the same speed so she didn't even want to bother, therefore her walker also served as some sort of %26quot;restraining%26quot; device... hehe.

I believed she crawled for only 1 month before she figured out she could walk instead %26quot;no walker needed%26quot;... Now THAT changes everything, but in my case it changed for good, I find it easier that she can go everywhere without me having to entertain her in the same spot all the time.

PS. I never really had a lot of decor items around the house (like vases or picture frames), I prefer the clean minimalist look since it's easier to keep up and clean, so I don't really have to worry about my DD breaking valuable or dangerous things. Saves a lot of chasing later on.How much did your life change when your baby started crawling?
well I do have to get up more but right now he's 10 months old but I really like that he's moving around. But I have friends who are like %26quot; wait until they start crawling they touch everything.%26quot; but to me it's not that bad. I mean so far he's pretty good, if I'm in the living room he will stay there and just touch the couches his toys but not go into the rooms or bathroom. But I love to see him growing!!!
