Did your baby change from "big" to "small" or vise versa?

Alex was born at just under 8 pounds and was always a chubby little baby. He weighed 14 pounds at his 2 month check up and stayed that way until he turned about 8 months old. Now I have a %26quot;small%26quot; toddler when I used to have a %26quot;big%26quot; baby.

Here's my chunky little 3 month old.

And now he's a short, kinda skinny 18 month old.

Did any one else's baby make a similar change? How about the opposite from being a %26quot;small%26quot; baby to a %26quot;big%26quot; baby/toddler?Did your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
Yup, at birth my guy was 8 lb 11 oz and 21 inches and at his 1 year check up he was a whopping 19 lb 12 oz and 31 inches. It's horrible to fit this kid into clothing appropriately! Either his pants are too short or they are falling off because he has no middle. I suppose he's gonna be just like his daddy (6'3%26quot; with a 36%26quot; inseam!!).Did your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
He is so cute! Had to get that in :)

My daughter weighed just under 8 lbs at birth as well, and now at 14 months she weighs about 22 lbs. I know what you mean though, my nephew used to be this big porker baby but now at 23 months he has grown taller and now doesnt look as big. Its strange isnt it :)Did your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
My daughter was always right around the 50 percentile for weight until about 6 months when she jumped to the 75th. at her following check-up, 9 months, she was back into the 50th and at 18 months still is. But with her height, she was always between 50-75 for percentile, and now she's a shorty like her mom, under 50th...Did your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
My son was in the 75th to 90th percentile for weight until he was about 9 months old. Since then, he has dropped to about the 10th-20th percentile in weight. The weight started tapering off when he became mobile (walking and running) and when he stopped getting most of his nutrition from breast milk and increased his solids. The men in my family have always eben big and my husband and his family are all quite thin. My pediatrician said it was likely a combination of genetic taking over and the increased activity.Did your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
no. my baby has ALWAYs been big. he was 10 lbs 3 oz at birth and 22 inches long. now he'll be 2 in January and he's 43 lbs and hes 3'4%26quot; tall. he was always the 97th percentile.

my little girl is average size so far. she's 7 monthsDid your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
what a little sweetie. Maybe hes just very active now. Hee sure looks like he would be a bundle of energy. I love his big cheeky smile in the treeDid your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
Nope.....Emma was born in the 75% height and weight. She is now 75% weight and 97% height.Did your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
Yes all 3 of my children were chubby babies. My Jacob is 4 years old and only 34 pounds now, my Alexander was above the 95% when he was a baby, now hes a skinny active 2 year old, and my daughter was a chunky little thing and she is now 14 months old and just a bit over 21 pounds (she was over 20 pounds at 10 months.) Its completely normal. They are more stationary as infants and the more they grow and move around the more they thin out. Plus they tend to hit that %26quot;picky eater%26quot; stage and only want one or two things...Did your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
I don't have kids yet. (ten more years to go!!) But, I looked at your pictures, and your son is the cutest thing!! I love his smile in the second picture. He looks so happy.

Anyway, sorry I couldn't give you an answer, but good luck! :)Did your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
Gracious, yes. But as long as all openings are working, and s/he is advancing, and the long bones are growing, and the pedi isn't worried, don't you worry either. A lot of their growth depends on the inherited height the child will attain. The children who will be taller can usually be %26quot;spotted%26quot; by their growth in the first 3-6 months; the pediatrician will usually comment on that factor. So, if a baby is heavier as a newborn-3 months of age, and bottle-fed, they will appear larger, but are not always heavier. Breast-fed babies are more of a solid weight, less 'flab' if you will; in fact, after a feed, they actually feel a lot heavier.

There are many variables but as long as the baby child is healthy, that's all that matters. My largest newborn, is now the smallest among her siblings; the smallest newborn, is the largest as an adult. Go figure. ;-))

No, Cade was 6 lbs 7oz at birth. Now he is 19lbs at 12 months. He is so skinny, but eats like a pig!

Alex is such a cutie!Did your baby change from %26quot;big%26quot; to %26quot;small%26quot; or vise versa?
aw your son is so adorable. i just wanted to say that your question made me wonder. my son started out at 8 lbs 7.5 oz and 21 inches long. then he grew at an incredible rate. he was close to your son, he weighed 15 pounds at his 2 month check up. he is now 8 months and weighs 22 pounds and is 30 inches tall. i always hear what a big baby he is. i wonder if he will slow down and end up being a small toddler?
